Open Call: A BIT OF A DO
Drunken Chorus are looking for artists and companies for A Bit Of A Do – our festival of theatre, dance and cabaret in Croydon.
A Bit Of A Do is an accessible festival, with work by disabled and non-disabled artists. The event takes place in October.
We want to hear from artists with either live or digital performances, or work that can be both.
We want to hear from:
Both disabled and non-disabled artists
Artists / companies working in theatre, dance, cabaret, comedy, spoken word and family shows.
Artists whose work is live, digital or both
All performances for the festival must be:
Finished / ready to be presented to a public audience
Of a professional standard
Complete with copy and images for marketing
We are particularly keen to hear from:
Artists creating work that is contemporary or outside the mainstream
Artists who are exploring new ways to reach audiences who cannot attend arts venues in person
And would particularly like to encourage applications from:
Artists living / working in Croydon
Deaf and Hard of Hearing artists
Visually impaired artists
Artists from groups who are under-represented in the arts, such as people from working class backgrounds and from the global majority.
Work can be of any length – from short cabaret pieces, to full length shows.
Past artists include Touretteshero, Forced Entertainment, Candoco, Caroline Parker and Moxie Brawl.
All artists are paid a fee, and all work will be interpreted in British Sign Language, with audio description at most events.
Venues have step free access, with access support for disabled, deaf, and visually impaired artists and audiences.
